Waste Collection Management

Bac Track provides a complete solution by integrating the following elements:
• RFID transponder (can adapt to an existing deployment)
• RFID reader and antenna on collection trucks
• Embedded computer on the truck to manage the data flow
• Cellular modem to transmit data in real-time
• Data server outside firewall (to manage data from trucks)
• Internal server (inside the firewall for increased security)
• WEB software for data processing (hosted by the client or by a specialized outside firm)

RFID TRANSPONDER
Both technologies are currently available:
• Low frequency 125-134 KHz (for cart tipper)
• EPC Gen II, 900 MHz (for automated systems)
Many bin providers offer transponders that are already integrated into their products.

COLLECTION SYSTEM
Designed to be very rugged, collection systems are very easy to install. Two units are installed near the lifting system and one power cable is connected. The system automatically manages the acquisition, recording and transmission of data.
The system ensures that no data is lost, even in the event the modem looses communication. When this occurs, data is stored in the system until the signal is available. More than 100,000 lifts can be accumulated in this way.

EXTERNAL SERVER
As the collection units have a dynamic IP address, it is impossible for a server inside the computer firewall to receive data without creating a security hole in it. To remedy this problem, Watelle Solutions Inc. created a data server that can be installed in the DMZ (non-secure side of the firewall). This server collects all data from trucks and stores them in a local database. This server ensures that no data is lost during the transfer.

INTERNAL SERVER
The external server communicates with the server using an internal address and preconfigured port, making cyber attacks impossible. It receives data from the external server, validates it and places it in the right location in the SQL database of the processing software.

PROCESSING SOFTWARE
Based on Web technology, this software allows users to enter information about customers, bins, trucks, assignments, etc. A display page allows users to quickly see all the information relating to a client previously searched for with the search tool.
A report generator creates powerful and flexible reports based on the criteria requested by the user. This can then be exported to a Microsoft Excel or Adobe Reader format (PDF).
A final module allows users to detect potential errors in real-time. It detects, among other things, bins that have not been assigned to a customer and those that have changed location (theft or relocation).
